How long do sessions last?At Merrick Counseling Services, our counseling sessions typically last for 50 minutes. This duration allows our clients to have substantial time to engage in meaningful discussions with their counselor while also ensuring that sessions remain focused and productive. However, in some cases, extended or shorter sessions may be arranged based on the specific needs and preferences of the client, in consultation with their counselor. Our goal is to provide individualized and effective mental health support, and our session length is designed to facilitate this objective.

How often do therapy sessions occur?Therapy sessions frequency depends on the individual client's needs and goals. Typically, sessions are scheduled on a weekly basis, especially in the beginning stages of therapy to establish rapport and make progress. However, as clients progress, sessions may occur bi-weekly or even monthly. Ultimately, the frequency of therapy sessions is customized to best support the client's mental health and wellness journey. The therapist will work with each client collaboratively to develop a treatment plan that includes session frequency and duration, taking into account the unique circumstances and goals of each individual.
